DongEun Shin is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at Indiana University. Her research investigates gender disparities in career outcomes and new forms of inequality in the changing labor market. Her dissertation examines the extent to which the gender earnings gap is present across nonstandard employment relative to full-time standard employment, what possible sources help explain the gap, how transitions from standard to nonstandard employment vary by gender and parenthood, and how earnings and health outcomes vary by gender and parenthood after employment transitions. Her other lines of research explore gender disparities in academia and career mobility among PhD holders.
