The Preparing Future Faculty Conference (PFFC) is a one-day event designed to provide graduate students from all disciplines and at all phases of their educations with important information about preparing for their future academic careers. The conference consists of sessions addressing different issues of concern to graduate students. Topics range from navigating the job market, to issues in teaching and pedagogy, to exploring the variety of professional opportunities available both inside and outside of academia, among other subjects.
Each year the conference is organized by a committee of graduate students, led by a PFF fellow who is appointed and funded by the Sociology department. Funding for the conference is provided by the University Graduate School and other participating departments and programs. Panelists are typically professors from IUB and surrounding universities. Special care is made to invite panelists from a diverse array of disciplines and backgrounds.
