Course Description

This course provides an introduction to how social scientists collect, interpret, and display data about the social world. Throughout the course of the semester students will learn tools necessary to become better consumers and producers of quantitative information. Topics covered in this course include an overview of research methods including sampling, and basic statistics. We will also develop a better understanding of how to visually present quantitative data, designing informative and easy-to-read tables, and other relevant topics. Students will learn these topics through interactive activities and examples. Upon completion of this course, students will walk away with a better understanding of how to conduct and comprehend quantitative research methods.
