Jennifer Jiwon Lee is a PhD candidate in sociology with interests in examining gender inequalities in social status and culture. Her dissertation uses content analysis of 1,790 articles that cite men and women social scientists who own academic ideas that have made their ways into the public discourse. She finds that even in social sciences - a discipline in which women are well-represented, cultural gender biases persist and continue to portray women as less-scientific, less-competent, and less-professional. Jennifer’s research has been published in Gender & Society. Prior to coming to IU, Jennifer received her B.A. in sociology at Dartmouth College
