Course Description

Every day you are bombarded by wave after wave of information - facts, figures, and statistics about who you are and what's going on in the world. This course provides an introduction to understanding this data and aims to provide students with the tools they need to become better consumers and producers of quantitative information. The topics covered include the basics of research methods, sampling, and statistics; the visual presentation of quantitative data; and the design of informative and easy-to-read tables. These topics will be introduced through a series of hands-on examples and interactive classroom activities. By the end of the semester, you will have gained valuable experience working with data and presenting it an effective and professional manner.
