Brea Perry recently began an appointment as Associate Vice Provost for Social Sciences in the Office of the Vice Provost for Research (OVPR). In this position, Brea will provide leadership and oversight for OVPR’s centers and institutes in the social sciences. She sees her role as "being a catalyst for research impact and productivity in the social sciences." Brea maintains an active research agenda, including research on the relationships between social network dynamics, cognitive decline and neuroimaging biomarkers in the aging brain; the social dynamics of high-risk drug-seeking behavior; poverty, social networks, and health care use among people with complex, comorbid conditions; and immigrants’ changing health beliefs and behaviors. Her interdisciplinary approach to research will serve her well as she supports social science researchers and advanced social science research on the IUB campus.
