Aaron Derner is a graduate student in the Sociology program. He completed his B.A at the University of Wyoming, and an M.A. at the University of Bremen. As a research assistant in Bremen, he worked on projects investigating the influence of International Organizations (IOs) on nation-state education policy, comparative rhetoric of IOs from differing cultural backgrounds, and the influence of public education on intercultural integration. His current research interest centers on the historical development and perpetuation of colonial frontier identities. Aaron has worked in various fields and industries prior to enrollment at IU, most recently as administrative staff at the access and research-oriented University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
In his free time, Aaron enjoys running, hiking, and is a student of historical European fencing.
