I am originally from Illinois and earned a B.S. in psychology and sociology from the University of Illinois in 2013. My primary research interest is in understanding how social institutions and cultural experiences influence suicidality, primarily in youth. More specifically, I am interested in how educational policies may create a particular culture or experiences for students that increase risk for suicide, especially for students with marginalized identities. Additionally, I am interested in how adultism affects youth suicide prevention efforts. I founded and run a suicide prevention non-profit and I am actively engaged in community suicide prevention, volunteering time to several committees and initiatives.
