About Wendy Puquierre

Wendy Puquirre is a graduate student in the department of sociology at Indiana University, Bloomington. Prior to moving to Indiana University, she earned her M.S. in Sociology (2015) and her B.A. in Psychology (2013) from the University of California, Merced. Broadly, her research interests are in the sociology of education (higher ed), stratification based on race, class and gender, and methods. Her research agenda focuses mainly on challenging deficit models often used to examine underrepresented students and, instead, examines the different resources disadvantaged youth exploit to further their education in spite of a raced, classed, and gendered education system.
