Emma Frieh is originally from Buffalo, New York, and received a B.A. in Sociology at SUNY Buffalo in 2015. Emma received a Masters from Indiana University in 2017 through research focused on the experiences of women hospitalized for mental illness who had also experienced sexual trauma or intimate partner abuse. Emma is currently a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and is now conducting research on psychiatric hospital website content and stigma, as well as an experimental study on the intersection of gender conformity and mental illness stigma. Overall, Emma’s research interests include medical sociology, mental health and illness, gender, and mixed methods.
